ARCTIC FOX EXPEDITION WORKSHOP
Date: 22 – 27 April 2026 5 Night 6 day block

Spaces: 5

Trip Leaders: Peter and Tina Boswell

Fitness Level: Easy

Start & Finish will be ísafjörður, Iceland

Photography Level: Beginner to professional

Photography Equipment: Foxes can visit us repeatedly on a daily basis (often several times per day), which provides us with multiple opportunities to photograph them and you should plan to bring both wide-angle and telephoto lenses.
Telephoto lenses from 300 mm to 600 mm are recommended. Zoom lenses generally provide more flexibility for fast-moving foxes. A wide-angle lens and tripod are also recommended if you wish to take advantage of the lack of light pollution and the clear night sky for astronomy photography. There are frequent opportunities for Northern Lights photography but remember you have to carry these.
Cost: £3450
Deposit: £1000

This is a unique tailor made workshop to the far north west of Iceland to the isolated Hornstrandir Nature Reserve .
This is for the dedicated photographer whatever skill level who wants to photograph Arctic Fox in the hostile environment it calls home.

The remote Hornstrandir Nature Reserve in Iceland's Westfjords is a prime location to see the blue morph Arctic fox, where about 80% of the fur of these foxes are dark-coated greyish – blue and the area boasts the highest density of Arctic foxes in Iceland.

We will travel by private charter boat to the remote Arctic peninsula in the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve from Isafjodur and as there is no harbour on the reserve the transport to the shore is done in a small inflatable boat from the charter boat

This photography expedition will last for 6 days (5 nights). We will stay in a remote house that is rustic but functional and clean. During our stay in the house, we will have a dedicated staff member to clean and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for us (all included).
The house is off-grid and it has limited electricity from solar panels and wind turbine. There is power for laptop battery charging, a generator provided which is switched on at the end of each day for charging batteries for a limited time. There is also an outdoor sauna. There is running water in the house both cold and hot and one toilet and one shower. All beds are made up with duvets so no need for sleeping bags.

There is a full kitchen and a chef to prepare meals and clean, and oil and log-fire heating. Please note that there is no Internet access in the cabin, and cell phone coverage is sporadic and not guaranteed. A Satellite Phone and Radio are available for emergencies.
